May 20, 2014 - Electric vehicle charging stations to make debut in Longmont
The charging station, located in the Museum parking lot, is an Efacec DC Fast Charger (sometimes referred to as a Level III charger). The Efacec DC Fast Charger can deliver up to 400 volts direct-current and is capable of fully recharging an electric vehicle in about 30 minutes. This station will have both industry standard DC connectors: SAE Combo for American and European vehicles and the CHAdeMO for Japanese vehicles.
Three additional Level II charging stations with 240 volt alternating current (AC) will soon be available. The Level II stations will be located at the Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue; the City of Longmont Service Center, 1100 S. Sherman Street; and in the Longmont Downtown Development Authority 300 East parking lot between 3rd and 4th Avenues across from the Civic Center on Kimbark Street.
