Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra returns for two back-to-back evenings dedicated to one of Hollywood’s most hallowed fools, Buster Keaton.

The General | (1925) NR

Railroad engineer Buster Keaton is rejected by the Confederate Army and his sweetheart, Annabelle. But when spies kidnap both Annabelle and The General (his beloved train engine), it sets in motion cinema’s most perfectly structured comic epic. Based loosely on an actual Civil War episode and filmed on old narrow-gauge steam trains, this movie has long been considered one of the best of all time

About The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra is a five-piece chamber ensemble that revives the repertoire of silent film orchestras. Using historic libraries of music, and selecting and fitting a piece of music for each scene in the film, Mont Alto compiles vibrant and emotional scores using the original techniques of silent film orchestras. “The results are often breathtakingly beautiful and always in the strict service of the film on the screen.” (Dave Kehr, The New York Times)
