About the Program 

Seicento Baroque Ensemble will showcase J.S. Bach’s glorious Magnificat in E♭, the rarely performed original version of his beloved Magnificat in D, in a celebratory concert of Magnificat settings from the Baroque era.

The program will open with a delightful setting once attributed to Buxtehude, followed by a truly beautiful setting by Charpentier. These three regal and joyful pieces will bring back the full Seicento ensemble, with vocal soloists and a baroque orchestra of strings, three baroque trumpets, baroque oboes, baroque recorders, organ, and timpani. We will present our audiences with a full panoply of baroque sound, in gratitude for all their support during the trials of the pandemic!
