Julius E. Bump came to Longmont in 1901, and became one of the area's earliest and most prominent realtors. Mr. Bump was a member of the School Board for several terms, and a Trustee and Deacon in the Christian Church.
After his death, ownership of the of the residence passed to George R. Smoot, who was married to Bumps' daughter. George Smoot worked for the City of Longmont for many years, and was the superintendent of the City's Water Department.
