SUMMARY:Shock Art - Submit your application
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Longmont Power & Communications\, Longmont Art in Public Places (AIPP) commissions seven to ten artist or artist teams to visually transform selected dull electric boxes into dynamic works of art. The community votes on their favorite designs\, and selected artists receive a $2\,000 stipend to complete the work. \n  \nArtists are welcome to submit proposals on any theme. Designs should be community-minded\, visually engaging\, and appropriate for public display in a variety of neighborhood settings. \n  \n2026 is a historic anniversary year for both our state of Colorado (150 years) and our country (250 years). Alongside our usual open theme\, we will commission at least one design inspired by the historic anniversaries. \n  \nDeadline is April 10. \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n \n	\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learn more and submit your artwork \n \n Community voting locations will be announced in April.

When two neighbors are detained on Kenmure Street\, word spreads rapidly through Scotland’s most diverse community. Within hours\, hundreds of residents flood the street\, surrounding enforcement vans and refusing to let them leave. What unfolds becomes one of the most spontaneous acts of civil resistance in the history of Great Britain. Everybody to Kenmure Street thrusts viewers into the heart of this electrifying standoff\, capturing the fear\, fury and fierce solidarity of ordinary people who defy deportation — and\, in doing so\, spark a movement that echoes far beyond their street. \n  \nDirected by Felipe Bustos Sierra \nProduced by Ciara Barry\, Felipe Bustos Sierra

His colleagues never knew they stood beside one of the greatest living American artists. Oliver’s life seemed destined for legend — until a tragic murder derailed everything\, pushing him further into the shadows. Stranger than fiction yet profoundly human\, this documentary unravels the mystery of a man whose brilliance was hidden in plain sight\, ensuring that history will finally place him where he belongs — alongside Warhol\, Pollock and the greats. \n  \nDirected by Chris Charles Scott \nProduced by Joe Martin\, Lisa Adams Odom\, Uma Sanasaryan \nChris Charles Scott in person.

From 1963 to 1966\, the Newport Folk Festival became the heartbeat of a generation — a place where protest songs ignited\, voices found power and Bob Dylan transformed from political balladeer to leather-jacketed rock ’n’ roller. Newport & The Great Folk Dream plunges viewers into these electrifying years\, told by those who lived them — Johnny Cash\, Joan Baez\, Pete Seeger\, Judy Collins\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Mississippi John Hurt and The Lovin’ Spoonful. The film celebrates a thrilling mix of American music: gospel\, Delta blues\, fife and drum\, and even axe-chopping rhythms from a Texas chain gang. Drawn entirely from rare and previously unseen archival footage\, award-winning filmmakers Robert Gordon and Joe Lauro show how music can inspire courage\, spark change and unite generations. \n  \nDirected by Robert Gordon \nProduced by Robert Gordon\, Laura Jean Hocking\, Joe Lauro

Featuring Britain’s most storied mountaineer\, Sir Chris Bonington\, this short film uses vintage footage to give an insight into what it feels like to experience some of the coldest and most beautiful places in the world most of us only dream of seeing. \nDirected by Lea and Roberto Colombo (Casa Colombo) \n  \n  \nONE INCH FROM FLYING \nUS\, Short Documentary\, 3 minutes\, 2025 \nIn One Inch from Flying\, a young climber grapples with the complexity of modern life\, and celebrates the sense of balance he gets from rigging and carefully navigating highlines in Washington’s North Cascades. \nDirected by Jim Aikman\, Taylor Humphrey \nJim Aikman in person. \n  \n  \nANNA \nUS\, Short Documentary\, 22 minutes\, 2025 \nAnna is an intimate\, unflinching portrait of The North Face mountaineer Anna Pfaff as she faces the aftermath of a life-altering frostbite injury in Alaska. Anna follows Pfaff’s challenging physical recovery and the profound evolution of her character — a painful yet powerful journey toward acceptance and the transformation of both body and spirit. It’s a compelling exploration of recovery\, reinvention and the limitless potential of human-powered movement. \nDirected by Kael Van Buskirk \nAnna Pfaff in person \n  \nBLACK EYES \nAustralia\, Short Documentary\, 19 minutes\, 2025 \nIn Mongolia’s timeless Altai Mountains\, Kharakoz\, a 13-year-old girl\, embodies a captivating blend of ancestral traditions and modern influences. As she learns the ancient art of eagle hunting\, the film delves into the powerful ripple effect of passing this sacred knowledge to girls. It showcases how Kharakoz and others like her aren’t just preserving\, but actively invigorating Kazakh culture in the face of rapid change. SUBTITLED. \nDirected by Mateo Arango \n  \n \nABOUT DAMN TIME \nUS\, Short Documentary\, 27 minutes\, 2025 \nAbout Damn Time honors the trailblazing women who navigate the Grand Canyon’s iconic rapids in handcrafted\, hard-hulled dories and who have carved their place in a traditionally male-dominated world. As the film carries you through roaring whitewater\, it reveals a story not only about mentorship and the inspiring women who are reshaping the river-running world for generations to come\, but also a river whose future hangs in the balance. \nDirected by Dana Romanoff \nDana Romanoff and Executive Producer Steve Markle in person.
