Boards, Committees and Commissions

These civic bodies provide valuable advice to the City Council, contribute to the policymaking process, and ensure that a wide range of community voices are heard.

With few exceptions, the meetings of City Council and any of its appointed boards are open to the public. Citizen participation is encouraged and welcomed at these meetings. Council and staff believe that the more involved citizens are in the early stages of program and legislation development, the better local government can meet the needs and expectations of the community.

The commitment varies depending on the board or committee but generally includes regular meetings and occasional special sessions or events.

Their recommendations inform City Council decisions and help shape policies that reflect the community’s needs and priorities.
