About the Artists

Montage was formed several years ago when violinist Tracy LaGuardia was approached about doing a sensory friendly concert at the Boulder Public Library. Tracy has an autistic daughter, and another violinist, also mother of an autistic child, was working on putting together concert presentations called “Living With Autism: Breaking Through Barriers”. These concerts were for kids and adults with special needs who perhaps don’t get to attend concerts often.

Having worked with 2 friends and amazing musicians for many years in different ensembles, Tracy formed a trio for this event. Cellist and banjo player Nick Rossi had played in a Country band with Tracy and pianist Deborah Schmit-Lobis, had played with Tracy in many Classical and Jazz groups over time in addition to working on a recording project together. The event was a huge success and Montage was born.

After Covid, they were invited to do a Midwest tour which took them to Deborah’s hometown in North Dakota. That’s when things really started to gel. They played everything from parks to concert venues incorporating cello, banjo, accordion, violin and keys. Being versatile in almost every style of music, they had fun incorporating their Classical, Country and Jazz chops into the mix. They weave their own special magic with original compositions as well, bringing all of the elements together in a lovely montage of image and sound.
