Discovering Longmont’s Northeast Quadrant – Tour Longmont Parks by Bike!
Celebrate Longmont’s 150th with a bicycle tour throughout the parks with parks historian and bicycle tour guide
Bike through the 70s and 80s and see how park design process has transformed our outdoor gathering places as we visit some of Longmont’s newer parks, developed in the early 2000s. Learn how community involvement in Longmont in integral to both the Parks development process as well as the selection of the public artwork.
Parks visited: Clark Centennial, Spangler, Lanyon, Stephen Day, Rough & Ready.
Bike lanes, multi use paths. Mileage: 7-8 (total).
Rain/snow date: Monday, April 12 9:15.
All tours guided by former City of Longmont Parks Project Manager and author Paula Fitzgerald and Traffic Safety Coordinator and former Art in Public Places Administrator Lauren Greenfield.
• All rides are FREE for Longmont residents
• For all rides: Per County COVID restrictions: 12 participants, with wait list. If you sign up for more than one tour and are a no-show, you will automatically be deleted from your next ride.
• Participants will be provided with waivers on day of event.
• Bicycles must be in good working condition. If in doubt, please take bike to a bicycle shop before the ride.
• Safety checks will be done as a group. Please be prepared with spare tube (for your tire size) in case you have a flat (we can help, but will not provide a spare tube if one is needed). If your bicycle is deemed unsafe to ride, you will not be able to participate in the group ride (for everyone’s safety).
• All participants will receive a bicycle map and will have opportunity get personal autograph if you bring your copy of “Longmont – Stories of our Parks” with you or provide it at the end.
• Wear: comfortable, appropriate biking clothes, HELMET, MASK (required); preferred shoes without laces.
• Bring: water, snack (if desired).
