Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

from silent film 'Steamboat Bill', man offering a package to the sheriff

Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra returns for two back-to-back evenings dedicated to one of Hollywood’s most hallowed fools, Buster Keaton.

Steamboat Bill, Jr. | (1928) NR

A curmudgeonly riverboat captain receives a visit from his long-lost son (Keaton), a foolish and vain college kid who plays ukulele. But when fate intervenes—in the form of a hurricane—Buster proves he has the strength and courage of his father. This comedy features some of the most incredible stunt work of Buster’s career.

About The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra is a five-piece chamber ensemble that revives the repertoire of silent film orchestras. Using historic libraries of music, and selecting and fitting a piece of music for each scene in the film, Mont Alto compiles vibrant and emotional scores using the original techniques of silent film orchestras. “The results are often breathtakingly beautiful and always in the strict service of the film on the screen.” (Dave Kehr, The New York Times)
