Open House for Spring Gulch #2 Greenway / County Line Road Improvements
Open House for Spring Gulch #2 Greenway / County Line Road Improvements
In 2019, the City of Longmont will be doing work on two projects on the east side of Longmont: constructing Phase 2 of the Spring Gulch #2 Greenway and making improvements to County Line Road.
This open house will give residents the opportunity to learn more about the two projects. There is no formal presentation planned during this open house, but the project managers will be on hand to explain the work planned and to answer questions. Drop by the Community Room at Fire Station #3 any time between 4-6 p.m.
Residents of nearby neighborhoods will receive direct invitations to the open house, but all interested residents are invited to attend.
Phase 2 of Spring Gulch #2 Greenway
The Spring Gulch #2 Greenway project addresses drainage, open space and transportation issues by designing and constructing a greenway trail connection and drainage improvements along Spring Gulch #2. Once complete, the greenway trail will run from Stephen Day Park (west of County Line Road) southeast to Union Reservoir, continuing on to Sandstone Ranch Nature Area and connecting with the St. Vrain Greenway.
Phase 2 of this project will include construction of the greenway trail and drainage improvements from Stephen Day Park southeast to the Union Reservoir Nature Area (at Weld County Road 26). This work will include another box culvert system consisting of a pedestrian underpass and Spring Gulch #2 drainage culverts running under County Line Road.
This phase of the project is anticipated to begin in spring 2019 and continue for approximately 15 months. The underpass and drainage work will be completed in conjunction with road widening and pedestrian connection work planned for County Line Road.
County Line Road Improvements
Improvements have been identified by the City of Longmont that are intended to increase both the safety and operation of County Line Road from 17th Avenue to Spring Gulch #2 (near Trail Ridge Middle School).
Proposed improvements include limited widening of County Line Road from 17th Avenue to Spring Gulch #2 to accommodate on-street bike lanes and left-turn lanes along the entire segment. Intersection improvements will be made where needed, and sidewalks will be added along the west side of County Line Road.
Construction on the County Line Road Improvements is anticipated to begin in late spring 2019 after overhead utility lines in the work area have been relocated by the provider.
