Liquor Licenses
In the State of Colorado, obtaining a retail liquor license requires review and approval from the Local Licensing Authority prior to review by the State Liquor Enforcement Division. The Local Licensing Authority, Municipal Judge Robert F. Frick, is designated under the Longmont Municipal Code to review liquor license applications and holds monthly meetings to carry out this directive.
The City Clerk’s Office receives and processes all liquor license and permit applications and is available to answer questions about the process, to explain the requirements and fees, and to ensure your application is complete before being considered by the Local Licensing Authority.

Timelines – When do I need to submit my application?
The rule of thumb is to submit your application as soon as possible! City Clerk staff requires time to review and intake the application.
General application timelines are below:

- 60 days prior: Renewals, New License and Special Event Permit applications
- 10 days prior to desired date of Temporary Permit issuance: Transfer License applications

If you are required to submit fingerprints with your liquor license application, you must be make an appointment with one of the statewide fingerprinting vendors – Identogo or Colorado Fingerprinting. You can no longer go to the police department to be fingerprinted.
You MUST have an appointment. DO NOT just show up at any location and expect them to take your fingerprints.

- Fill out personal information
- When prompted, provide the City of Longmont’s CBI Account Number for liquor licensing: CONCJ4357
- Select and confirm your appointment time.

Notice to Applicants Regarding Background Checks
As part of the fingerprint process, the City of Longmont must notify you of the following with regard to fingerprint-based background checks: your fingerprints will be used to check FBI criminal history records, and you have the right to challenge the information in the FBI identification record by submitting a request to the CBI. For more information, please read the CBI Notice to Applicants.

You should receive a pre-filled Liquor License Renewal Application in the mail 90-120 days prior to expiration (DR 8400).

- Make sure to sign page 4 and page 7!
- Attach necessary documentation
- Remember to include the following with your renewal (if these apply for your license):
- Current lease if the lease expired in the past year or will expire in the coming
year - Takeout/delivery permit application
- Storage permit
- Tasting Permit Application

- Pay your renewal fees
- Find the amount of your city and state renewal fees
- CITY Fees may be paid by check or money order OR contact city staff to send you a link to pay be credit card
- STATE Fees may be paid online at:

application
- Submit the renewal application to the Longmont City Clerk’s Office at least 45 days
prior to expiration.
