Liquor Licenses

In the State of Colorado, obtaining a retail liquor license is a dual process beginning at the local level which requires review and approval from the Local Licensing Authority prior to review by the State Liquor Enforcement Division. The Local Licensing Authority is designated under the Longmont Municipal Code to review liquor license applications and holds monthly meetings to carry out this directive.

The City of Longmont’s Local Licensing Authority (commonly referred to as the Liquor Licensing Authority or LLA) is the Municipal Judge. The City Clerk’s Office receives and processes all liquor license applications and staff is available to answer questions you have about the process, to provide clarification about the requirements and fees, and to ensure your application is complete before being considered by the Local Licensing Authority.

Please note that while city clerk staff are able to explain the process and requirements to you, they are not able to provide you with legal advice.
