PFAS are manmade chemicals with unique properties that make them very useful in products like fire suppression foams, electronics, nonstick cookware and food packaging. Manufactured since the 1940s, these are often referred to as “forever chemicals” when they enter the environment, as they do not readily break down. Exposure to some PFAS may be linked to health issues for humans and animals.

City PFAS Action Plan

No PFAS were detected in our source and treated waters during a voluntary 2020 PFAS sampling program conducted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).  The City is implementing an action plan to continue to monitor PFAS in source and drinking water and our environment.  This data will be submitted to the CDPHE and will be used to develop future regulatory requirements.
