In conversation with Justin Veach, Manager of the Stewart Auditorium, Longmont Museum

On a Saturday night in August of 1980, two unarmed young Chicano men were shot and killed on Main Street in an encounter with the Longmont Police Department. The Latino community rallied and out of their anguish came the founding of El Comité de Longmont. Join us for a conversation with El Comité’s Executive Director as she looks back on the 45-year history of El Comité and the essential role it continues to play today in championing the rights of Longmont’s Latino and immigrant communities.

La misíon de El Comité es facilitar la comunicación y el entendimiento dentro la comunidad para mejorar la justicia social, educación y la condición económica para los Latino, inmigrantes, y miembros no-Latino de la comunidad.

The mission of El Comité is to facilitate communication and understanding within the community to improve social justice, education and economic status for the Latino, immigrant, and non-Latino members of the community.
