Art in Public Places Commission meeting
Thursday, Sep. 16, 2027 · 6 pm - 7 pm Longmont Civic Center 350 Kimbark St., Longmont, CO 80501
The City of Longmont values community engagement and participatory governance. Our 22 citizen-based boards, committees, and commissions serve as a vital link between residents and city government. These groups play a crucial role in shaping policy, providing expertise and ensuring diverse community input.
The Art in Public Places Commission consists of 15 members, each of whom serves a three year term. The AIPP Commission is comprised of an active group of volunteers who approve sites for public artwork, recruit volunteers to participate on Selection Panels, send out calls to artists both locally and nationally and work with the AIPP Administrator to see through the entire process of selection through installation of public artwork. The AIPP program in Longmont started in 1989 and is funded by a 1 percent tax on all capital improvements projects exceeding $50,000.
The public is welcome to attend any advisory board meeting, held at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street, Study Session Room, at 6 pm on the third Thursday of each month.
