The Museum welcomes the Boulder International Film Festival back to our Stewart Auditorium for three glorious days featuring a wide variety of films from local, national and international filmmakers. For full program and festival information, please visit the Boulder International Film Festival website.

A COLD EMBRACE

A Cold Embrace is a tribute to the beauty that lies within the cold and the power of the human connection with the elements. Featuring Britain’s most storied mountaineer, Sir Chris Bonington, this short film uses vintage footage to give an insight into what it feels like to experience some of the coldest and most beautiful places in the world most of us only dream of seeing.

Anna is an intimate, unflinching portrait of The North Face mountaineer Anna Pfaff as she faces the aftermath of a life-altering frostbite injury in Alaska. Anna follows Pfaff’s challenging physical recovery and the profound evolution of her character — a painful yet powerful journey toward acceptance and the transformation of both body and spirit. It’s a compelling exploration of recovery, reinvention and the limitless potential of human-powered movement.

In Mongolia’s timeless Altai Mountains, Kharakoz, a 13-year-old girl, embodies a captivating blend of ancestral traditions and modern influences. As she learns the ancient art of eagle hunting, the film delves into the powerful ripple effect of passing this sacred knowledge to girls. It showcases how Kharakoz and others like her aren’t just preserving, but actively invigorating Kazakh culture in the face of rapid change. SUBTITLED.
