The City of Longmont will host its annual GIS Day celebration on Wednesday November 18th from 10am to 3pm at the Longmont Public Library.

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) are a series of technologies that include interactive online maps, GPS, and tools for analyzing spatial data. GIS has a rich history as a tool for the City of Longmont, having been in use since 2004.

Every department at the City, from engineering to neighborhood resources, relies on GIS in some form. GIS technologies help with day-to-day operations, including asset management of the City’s utilities, cone zone traffic impacts around the City and identification of areas for targeted outreach campaigns.

Join us for GIS Day to learn more about how this technology benefits our community! You can meet the GIS team and ask questions about the work, the tools and the role the GIS department plays for the City. We will showcase several projects created by the GIS department including maps, StoryMaps and dashboards.
