A memoir is a form of nonfiction that focuses on a specific moment or event in the author’s life. Unlike an autobiography, which covers a person’s entire life story, a memoir zooms in on one meaningful experience or period. Because it’s told from the author’s point of view, all the details are true and rooted in personal memory. What makes memoirs powerful is their ability to offer insight, lessons, or unique perspectives—often helping readers connect with experiences they may never have had themselves.
