War of the Worlds: The 1938 Radio Script
Thursday, Oct. 23 · 7 pm - 9 pm Longmont Museum 400 Quail Rd., Longmont, CO 80501
The 1938 Radio Script by Howard E. Koch based on the novel by H.G. Wells. Performed by :11 After Theatre Company
Join us for a live re-creation of one of the most infamous radio broadcasts in history. “War of the Worlds” originally aired nationwide over the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) radio network in 1938, directed and narrated by Orson Welles. Presented in the style of live news bulletins, many listeners believed a real Martian invasion was taking place. Experience a staged reading that captures that same haunting immediacy – brought to life through immersive soundscapes, urgent news bulletins, and the terror of a Martian invasion unfolding before your ears.
Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.
This program is part of our Thursday Nights @ the Museum series. Join us every Thursday from Sept. 11 until Dec. 11 for concerts, films, and free talks in the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium.
