Fox Meadows Neighborhood Park
Grand Opening Celebration
Join your neighbors in celebrating the grand opening of the Fox Meadows Neighborhood Park on Saturday, May 17 from 10 am to noon.
In addition to a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony, the event will also include a dedication of a new Art in Public Places installation, snacks and refreshments, and games for all ages.
Fox Meadows Neighborhood Park
The brand new park is located at 636 Deerwood Drive; south of Ninth Avenue and west of Weld County Road #1. Until now, this area of eastern Longmont was one of oldest sections of the city not served by a neighborhood park.
Welcoming visitors into the new park will be a 15-foot-tall sculpture of a bugling bull elk standing atop a sculpted rock ledge. Created by Colorado-based steel sculptor Pavia Justinian, the piece was commissioned by Longmont’s Art in Public Places and is now part of their permanent collection. Justinian will join City dignitaries at the grand opening event and dedication.
When it opens on May 17, features in the park will include chess tables, a half basketball court, nature discovery area, an official size bocce court, restrooms, separate playgrounds for ages 2-5 and 5-12, shaded shelters and an 82-foot long zipline.
