How to Request Public Records
The majority of the City’s records are subject to release under the Colorado Open Records Act. However, not all records can be searched for and found via the above public access portals. Records that are not available via these public search portals may be requested by completing the online Open Records Request Form. This form is automatically routed to the City Clerk’s Office. Once received, the City Clerk’s Office will reach out to you to either provide you the records you have requested, to confirm the scope of the request, or to provide you a cost to produce the documents requested.
If you prefer, you may also download the paper Open Records Request Form, complete it, and submit it to the City Clerk’s Office in person at 350 Kimbark St., Longmont, CO 80501 or email it to City Clerk’s Staff.
All Open Records Requests are fulfilled in accordance with the City’s Records Cost Policy.

This portal also provides a powerful search function by selecting the blue “Advanced Search” option. A search can be narrowed by using several filters that are available.
The Accela Citizen Access portal houses documents and information related to building inspections, certificates of occupancy, code enforcement, certain licensing types, and planning applications. To begin a search, choose the search option under one of the document headings. The next page will allow you to narrow the search with the ability to enter time frames and/or addresses.
Police reports, accident reports, and similar documents are not managed or retained by the City Clerk’s Office. More information about these types of records can be found under obtaining fire and police reports.
The City of Longmont has made several maps and webcams available on the website for public access. These resources provide real-time and geographical data to enhance your understanding of the city’s infrastructure and planning.
