A Site For Sore Eyes

Keyboard closeup with glowing Update keyA lot has changed in 10 years. And in mid-August, that’s going to include the City of Longmont’s website.

Yes, for the first time since “Frozen” was a major box office hit, the City’s site at longmontcolorado.gov will be getting a transformation. It’ll still be a key source for useful information about Longmont and its services – but with the coming updates, it should also be simpler to use, so that you can find what you want more easily and quickly.

How will that happen? Some quick highlights:

  • You’ll find a simpler structure and layout so that you can pull out the facts you need without having to know which City department they belong to. (“Is solar stuff with electric, with planning, or with sustainability?”)
  • Similar, you’ll have an improved search function to help pin down the City details you want.
  • The site will be easier to use on a mobile device – after all, they’ve become just a little more common over the last 10 years!
  • More information will be available in Spanish, making it accessible to more of our community.

If you pay your utility bills online (or would like to), there’s also going to be a new area for that on the website. To keep using online bill payment, you’ll need to create a new account and re-enter your information once the website launches.  Don’t start that new account yet – we’ll put out a heads-up when it’s time.

Everything’s expected to go live the week of Aug. 19. Watch for updates – and get ready to enjoy the new place.

It just might be the experience of the decade.
