A Welcome Site (More Power to You blog)
When the lights go out, the questions light up. And now, you can turn on some answers on a new City webpage.
If you’re a long-time Longmont Power & Communications customer, you know that we’ve typically shared outage information on our LPC Facebook page. That’s handy, but limited. For starters, not every LPC customer follows our Facebook page. (Shocking, we know.) Some may not even be on social media at all.
That’s why we’re moving that information to the new Electric Outage Status page on the City website. This will now be your place to go to find out about:
- Large outages that affect more than 3% of our customers.
- Smaller-but-persistent outages that take more than two hours to resolve.
Most of the time, the page is likely to be pretty quiet. (The most recent American Public Power Association update noted that a typical LPC electric customer can go two years without losing power, and our crews can usually restore an outage in an hour or less.) But when there’s something to report, you can check there for the latest information about the area affected.
Since we’re coming into snow season, this is also a good time to remind you that we have pieces on being prepared for a winter outage and what to do if a winter outage hits. Check out the tips to help you and your household stay warm and safe. And as always, our electric crews will be ready to help you 24/7 if they’re needed.
In the meantime, make sure to bookmark that page. It’ll be your best way to learn watt’s watt.
