An Electrifying Opportunity

In baseball, it’s always exciting to start things off with a triple. It powers things up nicely and gets you ready to charge home. ""

It turns out it works that way for energy efficiency, too. That’s why Efficiency Works now has a triple rebate for all-electric homes. If your house doesn’t have a gas meter, you can get three times the normal rebate on insulation, heat pumps, smart thermostats … well, you can read the entire list here.

What’s the big deal about not stepping on the gas? Well, Colorado has been steadily moving toward what’s called “beneficial building electrification” – a fancy way of saying  using electricity instead of gas, propane, heating oil and other fossil fuels. In Longmont, gas use in buildings makes up about 24 percent of the community’s carbon emissions, which is why the city has a beneficial building electrification plan of its own, with a number of recommendations for driving that emissions total down.

When you go to an all-electric building, of course, energy efficiency becomes more important than ever, since your electric usage IS your energy cost. Making a few simple improvements will help make sure you’re saving power and money, even while you’re saving emissions as well.

That said, energy efficiency is important for all of us. Everyone can benefit from an Efficiency Works energy assessment to pin down energy-saving possibilities. And once you know the score, there are quite a few home rebates and business rebates to help things along, as well as simple energy-saving devices in the Efficiency Works online store, like LED bulbs and smart thermostats.

So check out the opportunities. Because whether you’re swinging for a triple or not, you can still bring something great home.
