Author Talk: Anne Da Vigo Presents Newest Thriller Featuring Historic Longmont Plane Crash
The Longmont Public Library invites the community to a special author talk on Wednesday, October 29 from 6-7 pm with mystery writer Anne Da Vigo, who will discuss her latest thriller, Night Flight. This gripping novel follows the story of fictional high school student Hannah Brightman, whose life is forever changed after crossing paths with real-life bomber John Gilbert Graham. Blending fact and fiction, Da Vigo explores how Hannah struggles to reclaim her life after tragedy.
The inspiration for Night Flight comes from a somber chapter in Longmont’s history. On November 1, 1955, United Airlines Flight 629 exploded over a sugar beet field just northeast of town. All 44 passengers lost their lives, and the event became one of the most infamous sabotage crimes of the 20th century, influencing both aviation safety investigations and courtroom procedures for decades.
In her research, Da Vigo uncovered striking links between her fictional tale and the real events surrounding Flight 629. During her talk, she will share her discoveries and offer a deeper look at how history shapes mystery writing.
Books will be available for purchase, and attendees will have the opportunity to connect with Da Vigo after the talk.
