Bundling Up (More Power to You blog)

During March in Colorado, bundling up has usually been a good idea. And now that’s doubly true when it comes to energy efficiency.

If you visit this blog often, you’re probably familiar with Efficiency Works, the program that helps you find ways to save energy. For a lot of people, one of the most basic ways to do that is to improve insulation, seal cracks and otherwise improve the ability of your walls, roof, windows and doors to keep drafts out of your home.

As you might guess, there’s a rebate for those improvements. But the rebate gets even better if you bundle that work with installing an electric heat pump.

What’s a heat pump? There’s an entire blog piece on the subject, but in short, it’s a combination heating and cooling unit that runs entirely on electricity, with no gas lines or other carbon-based fuel sources needed. That means they’re great for reducing or eliminating the carbon emissions from your building … especially since they’re also built to keep up with a Colorado winter.

So why bundle? Because if you complete a qualifying wall, roof, window, or door improvement and install a heat pump within six months of each other, you’ll get a $500 bonus rebate. That’s on top of any other rebates the work may be eligible for.

Find out more about the rebates at the Efficiency Works website. It might be just the thing to pump some extra savings your way.

You could even call it a bundle of opportunities.
