Button Rock Preserve Closure Extended Due to CalWood Fire
Button Rock Preserve Closure Extended Due to CalWood Fire
The City of Longmont is extending the closure of the Button Rock Preserve until further notice as a precautionary measure during the CalWood Fire. There are closure signs posted at the entrance to the Preserve, which is seven miles west of Lyons on Boulder County Road 80, and north of the CalWood Fire.
The City’s primary water supply reservoir, Ralph Price Reservoir (also known as Button Rock Dam), is located in the Preserve. Aerial firefighting support craft are accessing water from the Reservoir for water drops on the fire. The City will continue to evaluate the closure based on CalWood Fire updates and use of the area for air support operations.
For current information about the CalWood Fire, visit the Boulder County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) web page. There is also information on the Boulder County OEM Facebook page. Residents are asked not to call the Longmont Emergency Communications Center for details about the CalWood Fire.
