Charging Ahead

These days, it seems like practically everything can be done at home. ""

Need groceries? In most places, you can get the week’s shopping brought right to the doorstep. Visiting an out-of-state relative doesn’t need a plane ticket, just a good internet connection. And of course, we all seem to have more movies available in the living room than any theater could ever book.

So with so much happening on the home front, why not power up your car too?

Just in time for Drive Electric Week, Longmont Power & Communications is offering rebates on Level 2 electric vehicle chargers, allowing your car a better charging option than the trickle you’d get from a typical home outlet.  In most cases – the typical charger to serve a home or an apartment complex – we’re offering up to a $500 rebate, but multi-family properties can also get up to a $1,000 rebate for a dual-port charger, capable of serving two vehicles at once.

There’s rules, of course, but nothing too surprising. The customer and property have to be in our LPC service territory. The charger’s got to be permanently installed and Wi-Fi-enabled, with a dedicated circuit. It’s got to be Energy Star certified and have all its permits in place from both the city of Longmont and Boulder County. And of course, you’ve got to submit the application while funds are still available.

So if you’re an EV owner and think you might want to plug into this, check it out. The details are also at our Save Money and Energy page along with an e-mail for more information and a link to the application form.

Once again, it’s time to bring it on home.
