City Council Adds Three Items to Election Ballot

In addition to voting for a new mayor, three City Council seats, and the retention of the municipal judge, Longmont voters will see three City budget issues on the 2017 election ballot. Those questions ask voters to

  • increase the City’s 0.325 percent public safety sales and use tax to 0.58 percent for the purpose of hiring more police officers, dispatchers and firefighters as well as funding equipment and facilities
  • place a 3 percent sales tax on recreational marijuana sales in city limits
  • increase debt in an amount not to exceed $36,300,000 by the issuance of water enterprise revenue bonds for the purpose of helping finance water system improvements including the construction of a water storage reservoir as part of the Windy Gap Firming Project
