City of Longmont Water Wise Programs

The City of Longmont is committed to responsible, environmentally sound, and efficient use of our precious natural resources. The City and its customers recognize the importance of wise water use as an essential component of the community’s culture – helping to maintain the local quality of life in a responsible, sustainable manner.

There are multiple programs in which community members can participate through the City and its community partners, while also maintaining an equally responsible attitude toward wise water use.

Lawn Replacement

The City of Longmont is joining Resource Central’s Lawn Replacement program in fall 2022. This program offers community members a mix-and-match solution to removing and replacing their lawns that help begin creating a water wise yard. Upon approval, residents will receive a $750 discount on lawn removal service and/or complementary water wise Garden In a Box kits. Then, they will pay only $1 per square foot up to 500 square feet (a minimum of 200 square feet must be removed.) The City of Longmont thanks the early adopters of this program that led the City to add the program this fall to make it more accessible to all residents. Apply now through July 18 – Limited Availability!

Slow the Flow Irrigation Assessment

Residents could qualify for a free water-saving consultation with Resource Central. After signing up online and getting on the schedule, a trained associate will visit the resident’s home and examine and test their in-ground sprinkler system. Residents receive a comprehensive report with a customized watering schedule and maintenance tips that help them save water and money while reducing runoff and keeping their lawn healthy and green.

Toilet and Sprinkler Rebates

Community members can replace their old 3.5 gallon-per-flush or greater toilet(s) with a new, high-efficiency toilet certified at 1.1 gallons per flush with a rebate program through Efficiency Works. Residents need only fill out the rebate application form and to have replaced their toilet in the same calendar year, and they could be eligible for a $50 toilet rebate. Residents could recycle their old toilets at the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM) in Boulder. Rebates also are available for a variety of different sprinklers for residents who have purchased new irrigation equipment in the same calendar year and have completed a Slow the Flow Sprinkler Evaluation in the past two years.

Garden In a Box

Resource Central, in collaboration with the City of Longmont, offers Garden In A Box kits that let members of the community get professionally designed, water wise garden kits specifically made for the unique Colorado soil. The kits include plant-by-number maps, seasonal maintenance suggestions and watering recommendations to help keep the gardens thriving each year. The second sale starts on June 21 for gardens ready to plant in late summer and early fall. Longmont CAReS $100 Garden in a Box discounts are still available to those who qualify.
