Library Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Close Connections

It’s great to have what you need right there.

You know what I’m talking about. The helpful guys who pull over when you’re struggling to fix a tire. The neighbor who volunteers a pickup truck to help you move. The online programs and virtual activities that offer themselves up when you’re distancing from the world.

Or, if you’re an electric vehicle owner, the charging station that happens to be right where you were going anyway.

We’ve just made that last part a little better.

Longmont has now gone from four city-owned charging stations to five. Our newest one has gone into service at the Longmont Public Library. And like the others, charging at this station currently is … well, free of charge.Library Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Why here? Because even in a time of COVID-19 precautions, the library is a central point for the Longmont community, with people coming and going constantly. We want our chargers to be where people are – it’s much more useful in reducing emissions than being on a road to nowhere –  so this is a natural spot, just like our chargers at, say, the Longmont Museum, or the St. Vrain Memorial Building.

And it’s not just the right place, it’s also the right time. National Drive Electric Week is coming up soon. If you want to be a little more plugged-in about what’s going on, check out the event link, which includes a local webinar and a (socially distanced) motorcade.

So go ahead. Try it out the next time you’re downtown. We think it says a lot about the growing options for electric vehicle drivers in this day and age.

You might even say it speaks volumes.
