Discover the Hidden Worlds of the Shortgrass Prairie at Longmont Library

Prepare to embark on a journey of exploration as the Longmont Library, in collaboration with Boulder County Parks & Open Space, presents a special event: Hidden Worlds of the Shortgrass Prairie from 6-7:30 pm on Thursday, Aug. 15 in the Library Meeting Rooms, 409 4th Ave. Join us as we delve into the serene beauty and ecological significance of one of Boulder County’s native ecosystems.

The shortgrass prairie, alongside rainforests, stands as one of our most vital carbon-sequestration communities. Within its quiet expanse lie habitats crucial for the survival of threatened species such as the black-footed ferret, burrowing owls, and ferruginous hawks. It is also home to majestic creatures like bison, elk, deer, antelope, prairie dogs, box turtles and rattlesnakes.

Through engaging presentations and interactive discussions, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the intricate web of life that thrives within these vast grasslands. Discover the hidden wonders of the shortgrass prairie and learn how we can work together to protect and preserve these vital ecosystems for generations to come.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with nature and uncover the secrets of the shortgrass prairie at the Longmont Library. This event is free to attend, however registration is required and is limited to 80 attendees.
