Downtown Longmont Creative District Lights it up this holiday season

Downtown Longmont kicks off the holidays with a celebration of lights – including Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Feliz Navidad and Christmas – featuring a black light show filled with music, dance and interaction.

Light it up: The festivities begin Friday, November 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the 600 west parking lot (at Coffman and 6th Avenue) with multicultural crafts for kids, ice carving and photo opportunity, costumed holiday characters, food and drinks. The celebration begins at 7 p.m., as an interactive black light show of song, dance and performance comes to life, uniting all the holiday cultural celebrations through light.

Own it: On Saturday, November 29, Downtown Longmont is the core of Small Business Saturday. It pays to OWN downtown by patronizing downtown business owners when you Shop Small. Ice carvers will create an interactive OWN downtown photo opportunity in St. Stephen’s Plaza from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Costumed characters may reward shoppers if they catch them shopping small between 1 – 4 p.m. Holiday Carolers will be strolling around Downtown from 4 – 6 p.m.
Businesses will be offering OWN IT discounts with a purchase, as well as distributing Shop Small giveaways. Visit as many businesses as you can to enter for a chance to win $100 gift card.

Find it: Join dOWNtown and Live Well Longmont to combine active living and holiday spirit. Get moving and follow the clues to find 36 ceramic painted bells displayed at participating businesses throughout the Downtown Longmont Creative District. Turn it in to win dOWNtown gift cards.

Share it: To celebrate Second Friday, December 12 from 6 – 9 p.m., participating art galleries and businesses are sharing the season. Many have paired up to offer great cross promotions. Join dOWNtown for art, food and fun. Also, visit Santa’s Workshop and Laser Light Show from 5 – 8 p.m. at Roosevelt Park. Activities include a visit with Santa, parent/child activities (10 & under) and Holiday Ice Show.

Watch it: Visit dOWNtown businesses before and after the Holiday Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 13 at 5 p.m. Watch as Main Street is illuminated with more than 60 floats twinkling with lights. Come watch this magical parade filled with marching toy soldiers, high school marching bands, ice castles, 12-foot balloons, costumed characters and much more. The evening ends with a fireworks show at 7 p.m. in Roosevelt Park (weather permitting).
