Drone flight notification: March 23 – April 10, 2026

Beginning Monday, March 23, weather permitting, the City of Longmont will be flying an unmanned drone to inspect electrical equipment as part of the City’s maintenance program. These flights are expected to be completed no later than Friday, April 10.

Flights will take place over the utility right-of-way in an area roughly outlined by:

  • Vermillion Road to the north
  • The Quail Road/Airport Road intersection to the south
  • North 75th Street between Nelson Road and Colo. 66 to the west
  • Just east of the Highway 66/Erfert Road intersection to the east

A map is included with this release.

These missions will be performed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. There are no planned outages related to this work. As these flights will take place near power lines and equipment, residents are asked to not approach the drone crews for safety reasons.

Anyone with questions about the maintenance inspection program may contact Longmont Power & Communications at 303-651-8386.
