Beginning Friday, Sept. 19, weather permitting, the City of Longmont will be flying an unmanned drone to inspect electrical equipment as part of the City’s maintenance program. These flights are expected to be completed no later than Friday, Oct. 3.

Flights will take place over the utility right-of-way in an area roughly outlined by North 75^th Street between St. Vrain Road and Colo. Highway 66, along with the Hygiene and Lyons areas. These missions will be performed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. There are no planned outages related to this work. As these flights will take place near power lines and equipment, residents are asked to not approach the drone crews for safety reasons.
