Early Morning Fire At 380 Main Street
PRESS RELEASE: January 20, 2018, 9:00 am —
At about 4:00 am, on January 20, 2018, Longmont Fire and Police responded to the second story of 380 Main Street in Longmont. Citizens had called to report seeing fire at that location. When FD and PD personnel arrived they saw flames in the second floor of the building. FD quickly attacked the fire and were able to get it knocked down.
The fire damage was contained to the second floor of the building which houses several offices. At this time it is not known the extent of the damage, nor the number of offices damaged. These offices and the damage are not associated with Breaker’s Grill which occupies the first floor of this address.
Streets were closed in that area for about two hours, but are now open. FD and PD personnel will be investigating this fire throughout the weekend. Detective Sandra Campanella (303.774.4720) and Fire Investigator David Ptaszek lead this investigation. (Case 2018-569)
At about 5:15 am, citizens called to report a car fire in the 800 block alley between Gay Street and Bowen Street. PD and FD personnel arrived and located one car fully engulfed in flames and another car smoldering inside. FD personnel extinguished these two fires.
This alley is closed to access while these fires are being investigated. Fire Investigator Ron Graham leads this investigation. (Case 2018-570)
It is not known whether the structure fire and the car fires are related. There were no injuries at either of these incidents. There is no more additional information available at this time. If significant information is obtained this release will be updated.
UPDATE: 7:40 pm – This fire is being investigated as an arson.
