PRESS RELEASE – Tuesday, November 28, 2017

The Longmont Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on Monday, November 27, 2017 around 5:43pm. Initial information indicates two motorcycles were traveling east on Highway 119 and Zlaten at a high rate of speed. One of the motorcycles left the roadway, hitting a guardrail where it lost control and slid into the center median. The motorcycle and rider continued through the median and crossed over into the westbound lanes of traffic. The rider, a 31-year-old male from Firestone, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other motorcyclist was contacted and later released. Drugs and/or alcohol are being investigated as a possible factor.
