Free Fir and Pine Logs Now Available from the City of Longmont

The City’s Wood Surplus Program offers 8-10’ logs on first-come, first-serve basis

The City of Longmont has a large stockpile of Ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir logs available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. Logs are being distributed free of charge as a public benefit and are intended for personal use not resale. All logs came from a forest stewardship project at Button Rock Preserve, intended to reduce the risks of catastrophic wildfires and protect Longmont’s drinking water supply.

The logs are in eight to ten-foot lengths, so you will need to cut the logs prior to transport or have a large enough truck or trailer to haul them off site, which is located less than a mile north of Highway 66.

Those interested in access to firewood must read and digitally sign a liability release.
