Greenway trail closures
Greenway trail closures
Construction closures to the St. Vrain Greenway trail are planned to begin Monday, May 22, as work continues on the Resilient St. Vrain project.
A portion of trail will be closed from the western side of Martin Street east to the Left Hand Creek Greenway trail. Additionally, the trail located to the south of St. Vrain Creek (running behind the Harvest Junction North shopping center) also will be closed.
These trail closures are expected to remain in place throughout the duration of work in the area, currently scheduled through spring 2018.
All trail closures will be clearly marked. Cyclists and pedestrians can continue to use other trails in the area, including one that runs alongside Ken Pratt Boulevard from the Left Hand Creek Greenway toward the west, and the dedicated multi-use lane on the west side of the Martin Street Bridge. They are also encouraged to use the crosswalks on the north and east sides of the Martin Street roundabout. (Click on map to view larger image.)
Resilient St. Vrain is an extensive, multi-year undertaking to fully restore the St. Vrain Greenway trail and improve the St. Vrain Creek channel to protect people and property from future flooding. It was begun in response to the devastating flooding that damaged much of Longmont in September 2013. Work is planned to move upstream along the creek channel in phases toward Longmont’s western border at Airport Road.
