Update regarding officer involved shooting on July 10, 2020:

As a result of interviews with victims and witnesses, review of body camera video, and approval of the court, the Longmont Department of Public Safety obtained an arrest warrant for Antoinio D. Armstrong, age 26, for the following charges:

Four counts of Felony Menacing (Felony 5), First Degree Criminal Trespass (Felony 5), Harassment (Makes Repeated Communications at Inconvenient Hours) (Misdemeanor 3), and Domestic Violence (Misdemeanor 1).

The First Degree Criminal Trespass and Harassment charges resulted in the originating call for a police response to an in-progress domestic violence incident. The felony menacing charges are related to Armstrong drawing and pointing a weapon at Longmont officers on scene.

The Longmont Department of Public Safety is responsible for completing the investigation into the domestic violence allegations involving Armstrong, which caused officers to contact Armstrong at 600 Martin St., on July 10, 2020.

With assistance from Loveland Police Department, the Longmont Department of Public Safety served the arrest warrant and arrested Armstrong following his release from a Loveland hospital on July 28, 2020, at approximately 11:25 am. Armstrong was transported directly to the Boulder County Jail.

Redacted arrest affidavit for Antoinio Armstrong

Although Armstrong is being charged for the conduct he engaged in before the police officers used force, their use of force and whether such force was legally justified is a separate, independent, and ongoing review being conducted by the Critical Incident Team for the 20th Judicial District. The Critical Incident Team is continuing its investigation into the officer-involved shooting. This multi-agency team is designated to investigate incidents in which any law enforcement officer within the 20th Judicial District uses physical or deadly force against a person while acting under the color of official law enforcement duties. Consistent with the Boulder County protocol, the Longmont Department of Public Safety did not participate in the officer involved shooting investigation.

As in any investigation, the suspect is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Due to the pending criminal charges, the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office and Armstrong’s legal representation will be responsible for determining the release of evidence or video records.
