Longmont radio KGUD FM 90.7 has temporarily suspended its transmission as it works on technical issues. It expects to be up and running again before the end of the week.

Known as Longmont community radio, KGUD is a non-profit station that broadcasts from the basement of the Carnegie building located at 457 4th Ave. in downtown Longmont. It shares space with Longmont Channel 8, the City’s public access channel where community based, noncommercial organizations, groups or individual members of the public, on a nondiscriminatory basis, are the primary users. Channel 8 is governed by the Longmont Cable Trust (LCT) and its Board of Trustees. The Longmont Cable Trust is an independent entity that facilitates programming. It reflects the cultural, educational, civic, ethnic and spiritual interests of Longmont.

Recently, the Longmont City Council selected a new provider of public, education and government broadcasts replacing the agreement it currently has with the Cable Trust. The new provider begins operations on January 1, 2020. 

The Longmont community was concerned about the future of KGUD radio after the City Council selected a new broadcast provider, but KGUD will continue operating from the Carnegie building for the foreseeable future.

Music played on KGUD is characterized as “easy listening.” It is a wide-ranging blend of familiar American Standards by artists old and new, seasoned with a bit of smooth and light jazz. Overnight—from 8 pm until 4 am—light classical selections are part of the music mix.
