LEAP Into Utility Help
LEAP Into Utility Help
Is it just me or have the last few months felt like something out of a science-fiction novel?
Think about it. We’ve had a virus racing around the world and a new spacecraft charging into orbit. Most of our lives have shifted into cyberspace. And of course, we’ve seen enough masks on the streets to populate the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Thank you for that, by the way!)
About all we’re missing is a moon landing. And while I can’t provide that, I can come close.
With apologies to Neil Armstrong, it’s once again time to make one giant LEAP.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, LEAP is Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program, which helps provide utility bill assistance to families facing tight times. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are a lot more of those families than usual. In response, LEAP has expanded its “season” and has been taking applications through the summer instead of observing its usual April 30 cutoff.
In a Colorado summer, it’s important to keep the power on and the air-conditioning running. (That’s one reason why we’ve worked to make sure that our summer rates are still among the lowest in Colorado.) So if you need some help to meet the electric bill in the midst of this pandemic, remember that qualifying households can get assistance from LEAP or from Energy Outreach Colorado’s Bill Payment Assistance Program in making their payments.

It might even send you over the moon
