Local Air Quality Data Available to Residents in Real-Time
Did you know that Longmont has an air quality monitoring program? The program was developed under the direction of City Council and falls under the Air Quality objectives of the City’s Sustainability Plan.
Longmont’s air quality monitoring program has been developed to survey oil and gas emissions, as well as overall air quality in the City of Longmont.
Air monitoring instrument stations have been placed at two locations: Union Reservoir on the eastern edge of Longmont and Vance Brand Municipal Airport on the western side.
The air monitors track the presence of compounds such as carbon dioxide, ozone, nitrogen oxides, methane, benzene and particulate matter.
Each station collects data around the clock and sends that information remotely to be displayed in real-time on a website dashboard. The collected data is later compiled and analyzed to monitor longer-term trends in local air quality.
Residents can view the preliminary Longmont air quality data, along with Front Range and Boulder County air quality information at bit.ly/air-quality-longmont.
