Longmont businesses urged to take assessment to determine impact, future needs

The Longmont business community is the heart and lifeblood of our community. In mid-March, the city’s economic partners formed a COVID-19 Business Response Team’s (BRT) that has been working to support our businesses during this difficult time.

The BRT has administered two surveys and continues to interview businesses in an effort to understand impacts to businesses. Based on summary of previous survey responses, response to resources made available to-date, conversations with representatives of the business community, and the collective expertise and resources of the team, Longmont’s COVID-19 Business Response Team’s (BRT) strategy has developed a three-pronged approach to support Longmont’s business community through the public health crisis. The BRT is focusing on economic recovery through: Capital, Communication, and Education. Additional information on this strategy, including access to available resources, can be found on the COVID-19 Business Resources Hub.

The BRT is also asking businesses to share additional, more detailed information, to help us gain a deeper understanding of the citywide magnitude of economic losses and financial needs. This citywide needs assessment will aid in identifying additional resource needs and prepare to take advantage of and maximize access to additional federal financial resources as they are made available. Please provide information about your business’s current and future needs by completing the brief citywide needs assessment.

The BRT is also partnering with the Longmont Community Foundation to create the Strongmont Fund. This fund is being seeded with money from the City, the Downtown Development Authority, the Longmont Economic Development Partnership, and private donors. Information on how businesses can apply for Strongmont grants will be made available to businesses that complete this citywide needs assessment.
