Longmont City Council Meetings Move to Library Due to Construction
The Longmont City Council Chambers is scheduled for renovation beginning January 29, 2020 and running through the end of May. Council meetings and study session meetings will temporarily move to the Longmont Public Library rooms A and B located at 409 4th Avenue.
Planning and Zoning meetings also are moving to the library on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 pm.
Seating capacity is limited inside the library and the public is asked to arrive early for the 7 pm Tuesday night meetings. Parking will be available on Kimbark Street and in the parking lot on the corner of 3rd and Kimbark Street (LDDA parking lot).
Council meeting agendas are always posted to the City’s website at http://webapp.ci.longmont.co.us/meetresults.aspx and meetings are streamed live on the City of Longmont YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/cityoflongmont. Meetings also are broadcast by Longmont Public Media on Comcast cable channel 8 (standard Definition) and channel 880 (high definition).
The Council Chambers will be completely gutted in preparation for the new construction. Plans call for new public seating, improved ADA accessibility, new dais and staff desks, and improved sound and aesthetics. DS Construction has been hired for the 4-month, $500,000 project.
Members of the public should contact the City Clerk’s Office to make any special arrangements for hearing or accessibility at City_Clerks_Staff@longmontcolorado.gov or by calling 303-651-8649.
