Longmont Council Member Bonnie Finley Reappointed to NLC Community and Economic Development Committee

Longmont City Council member Bonnie Finley has been reappointed to the 2016 National League of Cities (NLC) Community and Economic Development committee.

This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness. The appointment was announced by NLC President Melodee Colbert-Kean, councilmember, Joplin, Mo.

As a member of the committee, Finley will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the Administration, and at home.

The chair of this year’s Community and Economic Development committee is Craig Thurmond, mayor, Broken Arrow, Okla. Serving as this year’s vice chairs are Gerri Schroder, councilwoman, Henderson, Nev. and Gyna Bivens, councilmember, Fort Worth, Tex.

Finley, a lifelong resident of Longmont, was elected to the City Council in 2011 to serve a four-year term representing the residents of Ward 3, and reelected in 2015 for another four-year term.
