Longmont Library offers fun, engaging, free programs for 6th – 12th gradersĀ 

Longmont Library continues its commitment to providing an inclusive and vibrant space for teens by offering an exciting lineup of free events tailored specifically for those in grades 6th through 12th. These programs aim to foster creativity, encourage curiosity, and provide a supportive community for young adults in Longmont.Ā 

 

From literary enthusiasts to aspiring artists, gamers to those seeking a social space to connect, Longmont Library has something for everyone. Teens can expect a wide range of events, including but not limited to:Ā 

 

Teen Library CommitteeĀ 

4-5 pm, 2nd Tuesdays (Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 10)Ā 

Want to help out your local Library? Join us for a monthly meeting of teens interested in having their voices heard at the Library! Help decide what teen programs the Library should offer, suggest books to add to the Libraryā€™s collection, and work on creating a teen space that can better serve YOU. A great opportunity for volunteer service hours.Ā 

 

Pens, Prompts & Pizza ā€” Teen Writersā€™ GroupĀ 

6-7 pm, 2nd Tuesdays (Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 10)Ā 

Spend time putting pen to paper with your peers. Build worlds, refine your OC’s (original characters), write poems, or create something totally different in a friendly, no-pressure atmosphere. Once a month we’ll write from a prompt to get warmed up, and then have free time to work on a piece of personal writing (and/or drawing for our visual storytellers). Pizza will be served!

 

Dungeons & DragonsĀ 

6-7:30 pm, select Tuesdays (Sept. 17, Oct. 1, Oct. 15, Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 3)Ā 

Calling all D&D lovers! 6th – 12th graders who have some experience playing Dungeons & Dragons are invited to come and play friendly campaigns. This is a teen-powered program! Teen Anime ClubĀ

Eat some tasty Japanese snacks while we watch anime every other week!Ā 

 

Teen Video Gaming ClubĀ 

5-6 pm, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays (Sept. 25, Oct. 9, Oct. 23, Nov. 13, Dec. 11)Ā 

Compete, cooperate, and collaborate on our Nintendo Switch featuring a selection of games for 4-8 players.Ā 

 

Third Thursday Teen Craft NightĀ

Meet in the teen room on the third Thursday of each month to make a new craft each session!

Ever wondered how adults get things done? Us too! Join us every fourth Tuesday of the month for Adulting 101 and prepare yourself for that scary time of life… Adulthood. No registration required.Ā

An Afternoon with Sy MontgomeryĀ

To research books, films and articles, Sy Montgomery has been chased by an angry silverback gorilla in Zaire, bitten by a vampire bat in Costa Rica, worked in a pit crawling with 18,000 snakes in Manitoba and handled a wild tarantula in French Guiana. ā€œThe Children and Teen Services staff is dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space where teens can explore, learn, and connect with their peers,” stated Claire Studholme, Children and Teen Services Manager at the Longmont Library. “Our goal is to offer diverse programming that empowers and inspires Longmont youth while fostering a sense of community.”Ā
