Longmont Library unveils Fall/Winter 2024 season of enriching, free programs

Longmont Library is thrilled to unveil its upcoming Fall/Winter season packed with an exciting array of free programs for all ages. This season, we invite the community to engage in enriching activities that promise to inspire, educate, and entertain.

Banned Books Week

Kicking off the season, the Longmont Library has partnered with the Longmont Museum to host a screening and discussion centered on book banning. Participants will be able to watch the screening of the 2024 Academy Award-nominee for Best Short Film, “The ABCs of Book Banning,” followed by “Books on the Chopping Block,” a selection of readings from the top 10 most frequently challenged books of 2023 presented by Outlaw Production Collective. We’ll cap off the afternoon with a panel discussion featuring librarians and students on the front lines of censorship in Colorado. Make sure to register for this FREE event on Sunday, Sept. 29 through bit.ly/LibAdults or at longmontmuseum.org.

Author Talks

In addition, the Longmont Library will host a series of author talks featuring writers from various genres including best-selling author Sy Montgomery on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Karl Ford on Thursday, Nov. 7. Attendees will have the chance to meet the authors, learn more about their adventures and research, and participate in Q&A sessions.
