LONGMONT, Colo. – Although the Longmont Museum’s building remains closed to the public at this time due to COVID- 19, the Museum’s summer programming is in full swing. The Museum officially announced their summer season today with the release of their Summer 2020 Newsletter.

Programming includes their popular historic Longmont walking tours, to be held in small groups and with physical distancing this June. The Museum will host both a “Historic 3rd Avenue” tour, as well as a “Historic Downtown” tour with Curator of History Erik Mason. Advanced registration is required.

The Museum’s free annual Summer Concert Series, typically held in their outdoor courtyard, will take place virtually this year. Concerts will be livestreamed to Facebook from the Museum’s Stewart Auditorium every Thursday night from June 18 – July 30 at 7:30 pm this summer.

“Facebook Live has become a popular platform to engage our audiences during the closure,” said Kim Manajek, director of the Longmont Museum. “Broadcasting our concerts from the acoustically-excellent Stewart Auditorium will allow us to provide high-quality summer entertainment without the risks that physically gathering in large groups brings at this time.”

Performers are both up-and-coming local bands and established regional and national musicians including, Hazel Miller and the Collective, the Felonius Smith Trio, Clandestine Amigo, the 101st Army Dixieland Band, Delta Sonics, Megan Burtt, and Quemondo. Music ranges from blues, to salsa, to folk and even military repertoire.

The Longmont Museum’s season also includes virtual summer camp with programs in art, history, science, and culture for children ages 3 – 16.
