Longmont Museum Announces Winter Season

Today the Longmont Museum announced their upcoming season with the release of their Winter 2021 Newsletter, now available at LongmontMuseum.org.

The season highlight is an all-new exhibit, opening January 29, titled “Enduring Impressions: Degas, Monet, Pissarro, and Their Printmaker George William Thornley.” This remarkable exhibition includes original works by quintessential Impressionists Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Camille Pissarro, as well as lithographs each artist made in collaboration with printmaker George William Thornley.

“This exhibit is one of the first to examine the relationships between Monet, Degas, Pissarro, and their printmaker George William Thornley,” Museum Director Kim Manajek said. “These collaborations uniquely captured the essence of each artist. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to showcase the works that emerged from this influential moment in time.”

The exhibition runs Friday, January 29, through Sunday, July 18, 2021. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Longmont Museum members and children age 3 and younger are free. To ensure the health and safety of all guests, timed-entry tickets are required. Visitors can guarantee their admission by purchasing tickets in advance or by phone at 303-651-8374.

In addition to the in-person Enduring Impressions exhibit, a wide variety of virtual options will be provided. Thursday Nights @ the Museum programming will continue in a virtual format this season. Panels, lectures, conversations and performances will be presented live from the Museum’s Stewart Auditorium every Thursday night at 7:30 pm on Facebook Live, LongmontPublicMedia.org, and local Comcast Channel 8/880. Kicking off the season will be a virtual opening reception for Enduring Impressions on Thursday, January 28. Additional season highlights include poetry, storytelling, conversations on democracy and social justice, a celebration of Longmont’s 150 birthday, and much more.

Also online this season are Friday Afternoon Concerts, Discovery Days activities for children 2-6, the Big Picture Climate Change Series, and adult Art and Sip classes — now on Wednesday nights. Visit LongmontMuseum.org to find additional information, register for programs, and purchase tickets.

The Museum invites members of the media to take photos of the Enduring Impressions exhibit during installation January 20-22. Curators are also available for private interviews. To coordinate, contact Scott Yoho at 303-532-7513.
