Longmont Museum to Reopen Dec. 15
The Longmont Museum will reopen on Dec. 15, 2020, following the recent release of a new public health order.
The order indicates that museums “may operate at 25% of the occupancy limit not to exceed 25 people.” The Museum has been closed since Nov. 20, 2020, due to increased COVID-19 restrictions.
In addition to following the state’s requirements on building occupancy, the Museum will continue its existing pandemic procedures to help ensure the safety of visitors, volunteers and staff. These include enhanced cleaning and sanitation, signage for physical distancing, and reduced hours.
Temporary hours are from 9 am – 3 pm Tuesday through Saturday; the Museum will be closed Sunday and Monday. Visitors 3 and older must wear masks. Free disposable masks are available for guests who arrive without one. Hands-on areas of the Museum, including the third-floor Longs Peak Room treehouse, will remain closed.
The Museum’s 20th anniversary “Dia de los Muertos: Day of the Dead” exhibition is open and runs through Jan. 9, 2021. The exhibit features community altars and the artwork of renowned Colorado artist Tony Ortega. “Front Range Rising,” the Museum’s permanent exhibit documenting 14,000 years of human history in the St. Vrain Valley, will also be open.
